Late Work Policy for Projects:
For each week late that a project is handed in, your grade is penalized by one letter. For instance, if your project is one week late, and would have been graded as a B+, it becomes a C+.
Revising Projects:
For any project, you may choose to revise or improve your
work. If I am satisfied that substantial improvements have been made, your
grade for that project will be raised at my discretion. However, you are still
subject to late work penalities if you did not hand in the original version
of your project on time.
This project will integrate everything you have done so far. Your assignment is to create a flash project with multiple scenes that will contain (in any order):
The project should be published on the web (at Tripod or another site of your choice). EMAIL me links to your project online BEFORE CLASS.
Second Project - Sequential Narrative
For this project, you will create a short narrative. You are free to invent the content in any way you want, but the narrative should involve some question that is answered or mystery that is solved.
The presentation of this piece could take numerous forms - the images will either be drawn, photographed, or collaged from found images - but in any case, you will be working with STILL images, not animated or motion picture content (however, you CAN apply motion or animated effects to your still to simulate camera movement). You have three options for how you can complete this assignment:
The emphasis of this project is on visual storytelling, so pay special attention to your choices of camera angle, the sequence of your images and the relationship of one frame/panel/image to the next, and the pace of your narrative. There is a minimum of 25 images. Your soundtrack could be synchronized to the images, or simply atmospheric accompaniment.
Final Project - Interactive Game
For this project, you will use Flash to create an animated interactive cartoon or simple game. The emphasis will be on your interactive interface, and integrating sound and animation. The content and narrative structure are up to you, but there will be a minimum of 10 interactive elements (an interactive element might be a button that plays a sound and animation in response to a click). Try to make it as fun to interact with as possible! This projects should be published on the web, and submitted to me as URLs.
